The advent of OTT platforms has brought about a newfound liking for TV shows for not only younger generations but also relatively older ones, as well. One recent title that appealed to audiences traversing generations in Deepak Kumar Mishra’s ‘Panchayat’ for Amazon Prime Video.
The lighthearted comedy follows an engineering graduate, Abhishek, who is unable to find a job of his caliber. So eventually, he ends up working for a panchayat in a remote Indian village, Phulera, and deals with a plethora of mundane challenges; all while studying to crack his MBA exams. Throughout the three seasons that are already streaming, he forms familial bonds with the villagers.
Not only is ‘Panchayat’ one of the highest-rated Indian TV shows across various OTT platforms, it has also now officially climbed the ladder to establish its status as one of the ‘Top 3 Most Watched Shows On Prime India Ever’!
This statistic goes on to prove a simple fact: there’s nothing more that appeals to viewers than the eventfulness of uneventful daily occurrences. That is, there is beauty in mundanity.
