It’s been a real good year for fans of literature and cinema as the book adaptations just seem to be coming in one after the other. Following the lead of ‘Three Body Problem’, ‘Dune: Part Two’, ‘A Gentleman in Moscow’, ‘Wicked’, and more, is now a film adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s ‘Death in Her Hands’.
American author and novelist Ottessa Charlotte Moshfegh is the Hemingway Foundation / PEN Award-winning writer of titles like ‘Eileen’, ‘My Year of Rest and Relaxation’, ‘Homesick for Another World’, ‘McGlue’, ‘Lapvona’, and more. While her debut novel ‘Eileen’ has already been adapted into a feature-length film, three of her other titles are in the works to becoming one!
Next up, her 2020 psychological horror thriller ‘Death in Her Hands’ will be adapted by American filmmaker David Lowery. Lowery is famous for winning big at International Festivals, including the Sundance, Sidewalk, Texas, and Dallas Film Festivals.
The plot follows an elderly widow whose life is turned upside down when she comes across a cryptic note on a walk in the woods near her house. This strange incident makes her question almost everything about her new home.
While no cast or crew is yet attached to the project, it could prove to be one of the most awaited adaptations to come!
