Diehard cinephiles might already be in the know that after the streaming success of his last Netflix film ‘Army of the Dead’, Zack Snyder is now engrossed in his next directorial film titled ‘Rebel Moon’. The script of the epic science fiction fantasy film has been written by Zack Snyder himself along with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300). ‘Rebel Moon’ is currently being planned as a two-part movie.
And now, Zack Snyder seems to have hit the bullseye by casting an actor of Anthony Hopkins’ repute and calibre for his ambitious Netflix venture ‘Rebel Moon’. Anthony Hopkins is a veteran Welsh actor whose filmography comprises some fine films such as ‘Nixon’, ‘Amistad’, ‘A Bridge Too Far’, ‘The Mask of Zorro’, ‘Silence of the Lambs’, and more recently ‘The Father’. He had won Oscar awards for the last two films.
Anthony Hopkins’ addition to the film’s cast was recently announced during the ongoing Netflix Geeked event. It was revealed that it’s going to be a voice acting role for Anthony Hopkins and his character Jimmy is being described as a sentient JC1435 mechanized battle robot and one-time defender of the slain King. Later, Zack Snyder himself ratified the huge update by sharing Anthony Hopkins’ first look in the film. Considering his stature, there is no doubt that Anthony Hopkins’ casting and presence in ‘Rebel Moon’ will lend the film another dimension.

Inspired by Star Wars and Akira Kurosawa’s films, ‘Rebel Moon’ is being described as a grand science fiction adventure that revolves around a far-off peaceful colony bordering the galaxy. The colony is endangered by the presence of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. As a result, the residents are forced to send a young woman (played by Sofia Boutella) on a mission in order to find warriors from nearby planets to defend themselves.
Filming for the big-ticket Netflix film ‘Rebel Moon’ commenced from April 2022 and is expected to conclude by November later this year. Zack Snyder has also been busy with the ‘Army of the Dead’ franchise. He has co-directed the upcoming Netflix anime-style series ‘Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas’ and is also set to direct the ‘Army of the Dead’ sequel ‘Planet of the Dead’.
