A few months back, we had made our readers aware of a report by a leading Hollywood publication regarding a ‘Captain America 4’ film allegedly under development by the creator of ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ – Malcolm Spellman. The news came out amidst the alleged rumor about Chris Evans reprising his role in a possible Captain America film.
And now in a fantastic development, it has finally been confirmed (via Deadline) that the adorable Falcon – Anthony Mackie will reportedly star in Marvel Studios’ and Disney’s highly anticipated ‘Captain America 4’ movie. The big-ticket venture would be Mackie’s first MCU superhero movie as the lead actor and a fitting testimonial to his top-notch acting talents.
‘Captain America 4’ is being co-written by ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ creator Malcolm Spellman along with Dalan Musson. However, it seems that the director for the high-profile film is yet to be finalized. Moreover, the presence of the remaining cast members including Sebastian Stan as the Winter soldier is not confirmed yet. Although there seems to be no reason not to bring him back. Interestingly, Sebastian Stan was prompt to reply to the ‘Captain America 4’ news with “HELL.YES”
Anthony Mackie, who made his debut in the 2002 musical drama ‘8 Mile’ was later appreciated for his supporting performance in Kathryn Bigelow’s war thriller ‘The Hurt Locker’ starring Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner. Thereafter, he catapulted to global fame by starring in MCU films such as ‘Captain America’ movies, ‘Avengers’ films, and further cemented his bankability in the more recent ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ series.
The first ‘Captain America’ film and its two lucrative sequels namely ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ & ‘Captain America: Civil War’ featured Chris Evans essaying the role of the titular superhero. The films’ phenomenal commercial and critical success made Evans a Hollywood heartthrob and a bankable performer.
So, Anthony Mackie will have big shoes to fill, and considering Chris Evans’ Captain America image, expectations will naturally be sky-high for ‘Captain America 4’. We earnestly hope that the supremely talented Anthony Mackie will be accepted as the new Captain America in the upcoming movie and will impressively carry forward the coveted superhero mantle for fans of the franchise globally.
