SonyLIV has dropped the trailer for Sunny Wayne’s upcoming dark comedy Malayalam film ‘Appan’ and this is an intriguing one. Helmed by Maju, ‘Appan’ skipped theatres and is set for a direct-to-digital release on SonyLIV on 28th October, 2022.
Set in a rural jungle like backdrop ‘Appan’ trailer begins in the dark with the narrator telling how the father in the family used to live only to eat, sleep and make merry. Bedridden for a long time he was once presumed dead but turns out it was a false alarm.
His despicable personality has an unnerving impact on all those present around him including his family who wishes he was dead. They even try various superstitions for the same but nothing works. It isn’t just that, something weird is happening on their property that the father can sense and seems afraid of it too.
Directed by Maju, ‘Appan’ is touted to be a dark comedy drama that delves into parent-child conflict. The film stars Sunny Wayne, Grace Antony and Ananya in lead roles with Alencier Ley Lopez, Pauly Valsan, Vijilesh Radhika Radhakrishnan, Anil K Sivaram, Geethi Sangeetha, Unni Raj Cheruvathoor, Drupad Krishna, Janakir.k, Shamsudheen Mankarathodi, Mallika, Chilamban, Mallu, Gk and Ashraf in supporting roles.
Maju has co-written ‘Appan’ with R Jayakumar that is produced by Sunny Wayne, Josekutty Madathil, and Ranjith Manambarakkat under the banners of Sunny Wayne Productions and Tiny Hands Productions. ‘Appan’ will have its world premiere only on SonyLIV on 28th October, 2022.
