Applause Entertainment has been giving some acclaim worthy series for a quite a time now and it’s time for its next one. The content studio has greenlit an exciting new procedural crime drama series ‘Trail Of An Assassin’.
The series is based on the book ‘Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi’s Assassin’ by Anirudhya Mitra whose rights have now been acquired by Applause Entertainment. The book was recently published by HarperCollins Publishers India Private Limited.
The assassination of Rajiv Gandhi has been a mysterious and shocking event for the country and the world ever since it took place. ‘Trail Of An Assassin’ will bring forth many hidden truths behind this event and will put a spotlight on the immediate aftermath of the heinous crime.
Renowned National Award winning filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, who is known for his ventures like ‘Iqbaal’, ‘Dor’, ‘Aashayein’, ‘Dhanak’, ‘City Of Dreams’, ‘Modern Love Hyderabad’ and more, will helm ‘Trail Of An Assassin’. The series will be produced for Applause Entertainment by Elahè Hiptoola of Kukunoor Movies.
As per Applause Entertainment, ‘Trail Of An Assassin’ will be a blow-by-blow account of how the CBl’s Special Investigation Team cracked the assassination plot, identified the assassins and chased the mastermind, to his final hideout.
Talking about author Anirudhya Mitra, he is a former journalist who was one of the firsts to report on the investigation and break several exclusive stories while the hunt for Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins was on.
