After tasting smashing success with their very first Tamil film ‘Por Thozhil’, Applause Entertainment has now stepped up to the plate for its next Tamil film. And this time, it has the venerated Pa Ranjith joining hands with it. Yes, Applause Entertainment and Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions will jointly produce exciting young filmmaker Mari Selvaraj’s next film, said to be a sports drama.
All three stakeholders, Applause Entertainment, Pa Ranjith and Mari Selvaraj took to their social media handles this afternoon to announce their new collaboration film. They also shared a picture with Mari Selvaraj, Pa Ranjith, Dhruv Vikram, Anupama Parameswaran, and Applause Entertainment’s Samir Nair and Aditi Anand.
The as-yet untitled film will star upcoming young actor Dhruv Vikram in the lead, along with Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead.
Pa Ranjith had also produced Mari Selvaraj’s debut film, Pariyerum Perumal. Mari Selvaraj then went on to write and direct such socially rousing films like Karnan and Maamannan. His fourth film Vaazhai is in post-production as of now.
Not much is known about the new Mari Selvaraj film announced this afternoon except that it will be a raw sports drama that goes back to the roots of Kabaddi. Details of the rest of the cast and crew of the film remain undisclosed.
The Dhruv Vikram starrer will not be the only film collaboration by Applause Entertainment and Neelam Studios. As per sources, the two content production giants have tied up for a series of titles, the first of which is Mari Selvaraj’s sports drama.
