Apple TV+ sci-fi series, Invasion, is returning with Season 2. The streaming platform has revealed its release window. The upcoming season will premiere on the streaming platform on August 23. It will have 10 episodes. Weekly episodes will follow, leading to the season’s finale on October 25.
Co-created by David Weil (who created Amazon’s Solos and Hunters) and Simon Kinberg (known for his contributions to Fox’s X-Men series and producing The Martian and Cinderella), Invasion is a sci-fi show revolving around an alien invasion, which is seen through different perspectives of several people residing on different continents across the globe.
Season 2 will focus on the mentioned aliens preparing to gear up for an all-out war against humans.
The show’s main cast will return, including Golshifteh Farahani, Shamier Anderson, Shioli Kutsuna, Billy Barratt, India Brown, Paddy Holland, Azhy Robertson, and more. The forthcoming entry will also feature new additions to the cast, such as Nedra Marie Taylor, Enver Gjokaj, and Naian Gonzalez Norvind.
Season 1 opened to mixed critical response in October 2021, with critics praising the visuals and performances. But they lambasted its slow pace, which ultimately spoiled the tension and excitement about the alien apocalypse in the show. The first season has a critic score of 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 36 reviews. Although, the performance of Sam Neill (Jurassic Park and Peaky Blinders) received praise.
