Apple TV Plus has gone and done the unexpected. The prestigious streamer has canceled one of the most popular shows on its platform – one that is rated an impressive 95% on ratings aggregating portal, Rotten Tomatoes. The series we talk about is none other than murder mystery and dark comedy series, ‘The Afterparty’. In a surprising move, Apple TV Plus has canceled ‘The Afterparty’ after two seasons.
The Afterparty has been one of the most appreciated shows on Apple TV Plus. For one, it is a witty comedy, created by Christopher Miller, well-known writer-director of titles such as Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Spider-Man: Into The SpiderVerse, 21 Jump Street, and more. The unconventional premise
The murder mystery premise, coupled with delectable dark comedy makes The Afterparty an interesting and compelling watch. The series is an anthology of sorts, with murders setting the story going. The Afterparty Season 1 is centred around a murder that takes place at a high school reunion.
The fun begins when attendees try to remember what happened, despite all of them remembering the fateful night differently and the murderer remaining at large. The Afterparty Season 2 is set in the backdrop of a wedding where the groom is murdered.
The Afterparty stars Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson and Zoë Chao in pivotal roles. Ike Barinholtz, Ben Schwartz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, Dave Franco, John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall, Zach Woods and Vivian Wu, among others, play supporting roles, divided over two seasons.
Producers Sony Pictures Television plan to shop The Afterparty to other streaming platforms. Stay tuned to Binged for further details on where The Afterparty Season 3 lands eventually.
