In a coup of sorts, elite streamer Apple TV Plus has grabbed the next series in the works from ace creator, Vince Gilligan. Now that Gilligan’s new series has landed at Apple TV Plus, it will mark his departure from AMC Networks, the home of his two superstar shows, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul‘.
Vince Gilligan has announced his next series, one in which he reunites with his ‘Better Call Saul’ star, Rhea Seehorn. Yes, the talented actress will be a prominent part of the new Apple TV Plus series from Gilligan. Apple TV Plus is betting big on the upcoming series, so much that the streamer has given a two-season, straight-to-series order for the Vince Gilligan series.
Neither Apple TV Plus nor Vince Gilligan has disclosed the plot, premise, cast and crew of the new series. Gilligan has hinted only that his next series will not be about anti-heroes, a la his two marquee shows.
The coming together of Apple TV Plus and Vince Gilligan for the new series has been engineered by former Sony Pictures honchos Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht. The duo had been the first to greenlight Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul while at Sony Pictures. Both now head Apple TV Plus’ streaming portfolio.
