This Friday, Apple TV Plus will premiere one of its most compelling series yet – the crime drama, ‘Black Bird’. The first episode of the limited series will premiere on Apple TV Plus on July 8, with subsequent episodes releasing in the coming weeks in the one episode per week format.
‘Black Bird‘ is an adaptation of James Keene’s autobiographical novel ‘In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption’. It stars Taron Egerton as James Keene, a drug dealer who is convicted of his drug crimes and must serve 10 years in a minimum-security prison. Keene is offered his freedom in exchange for coaxing a confession out of suspected serial killer Larry Hall and finding out where his victims are buried.
For that, James Keene must enter a maximum security jail, befriend the serial killer Larry Hall (played by Paul Walter Hauser) and sneakily obtain a confession from him. For James Keene, it’s a race against time as Hall’s appeal can go through any time, making him a free man.
‘Black Bird’ is developed by Dennis Lehane. Besides Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser, the series stars Greg Kinnear, Sepideh Moafi and Ray Liotta in crucial roles. ‘Black Bird’ will mark Ray Liotta’s final TV outing, a posthumous release following his death in late May. Besides Black Bird, several films featuring the late actor are in post-production, to be released posthumously.
