Apple TV+ has revealed the exciting new cast ensemble for its upcoming whodunit comedy series ‘The Afterparty’ and it’s all things lit. The series revolves around a murder mystery and is coming from the makers of ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’, ‘The Lego Movie’ and ’21 Jump Street’ Chris Miller and Phil Lord.
The stunning star cast for ‘The Afterparty’ includes Tiffany Haddish (‘Girls Trip’, ‘Night School’), Sam Richardson (‘Veep’, ‘Detroiters’), Zoë Chao (‘Strangers’, ‘Love Life’), Ben Schwartz (‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘House Of Lies’), Ike Barinholtz (‘The Mindy Project’, ‘Neighbors’), Ilana Glazer (‘Broad City’, ‘Rough Night’), Dave Franco (‘The Rental’, ‘Now You See Me’), Jamie Demetriou (‘Fleabag’, ‘Stath Lets Flat’) and John Early (‘Search Party’, ‘At Home with Amy Sedaris’).
As per media reports, the eight part series will be set at an afterparty of a high school reunion where each episode will “feature a retelling of the same night told through a different character’s perspective, each with its own unique visual format and film genre to match the teller’s personality.”
Haddish will play the role of an eccentric Detective Danner along with her overly-eager partner Detective Culp played by Early, who are assigned to solve the high-profile case. The rest of the cast plays the role of high school alumnis. “Richardson is Aniq, a loveable escape room designer who hopes to reconnect with his high school crush, Zoe.”
“Chao is Zoe, a former artist turned school administrator who is newly separated from her high school sweetheart. Schwartz will play Yasper, Aniq’s relentlessly positive best friend who dreams of a career in music. Barinholtz will portray Brett, Zoe’s ex-husband, an arrogant, former high school athlete.”
“Glazer will play Chelsea, the former high school valedictorian and class president. Franco will portray Xavier, once a dorky high school drama student, now a famous pop star and actor. Demetriou is Walt, ignored throughout high school, Walt attends the reunion with hopes to be remembered.”
Miller will direct at least one episode other than serving as the creator, showrunner and executive producer for ‘The Afterparty’. Lord Miller will also executive produce the Apple TV+ series with TriStar TV and Sony Pictures TV producing it.
Apple TV+ has not revealed the release dates for ‘The Afterparty’ as of now.
