Argylle Wins In A Slow Weekend BO

The weekend was devoid of colors as a slow and disastrous Argylle managed to be victorious in the box office. Henry Cavill makes another attempt to secure a place in the industry, but except for his trademark roles, he is failing to make an impact.

Also, this weekend’s box office might be a slow one; it saw nothing new except the first two places on the podium. Among those, the second-place holder is indeed a new spice in the mix.

The list is topped by Universal’s Argylle, which wasn’t only paired with some abysmal reviews; it also was hit by the cruel and cold nature of the box office. This proves the theory that critics are indeed right sometimes.

Even a star cast that includes Henry Cavill and Bryan Cranston, along with some of the biggest names in the industry, their collective effort was insufficient to save the film as it managed to gross $18M in the domestic box office—a quote disappointing result for a $200M film.

Then it is followed by a series; yes, we are not drunk, and you are hearing it right. Remember ‘The Chosen’? It was one of the chosen contents filmed despite the strike going on. Now the makers are releasing the first, second, and third episodes and managed to play it as a film. As the limited theatrical experience plays a part, it still managed to gross $5.9M, quite a significant deal indeed.

And then you are practically hit by the monotony of the box office; in the third place, it’s The Beekeepers, which again crosses $5.3M, becoming a global hit and still dominating the market. Though it’s available in VOD in some regions, the stats are nothing but impressive.

Next, it is followed by Wonka and Migration. Both films are nearing the two-month mark in the box office. Wonka grosses the $4.8M mark, and Migration gets to $4.1M.

In terms of other films, Mean Girls saw a massive fall. Though the musical had a really strong start, it is now falling from its glory, grossing just $4M over the weekend.

This week’s hit will obviously be Anyone But You, which managed to reach the $150M mark in the box office and even this week, showing no sign of dying down. Grossing $4M, Anyone But You manages to be one hit formula of Sony’s R-rated comedies.

Then it is followed by American Fiction, also one of the most critically acclaimed titles of the year. The film grossed the $2.3M mark and now has gross earnings of $15M.

Next comes Poor Things, the Emma Stone masterclass in acting, grossing $2.1M. She is definitely one of the strongest contenders for Oscars this year, and besides that, Poor Things has all the possibility to rule on the OTT platforms.

Last but not least, though DC lost its ship in the box office tempest, Aquaman manages to stay in the fight with $2M this weekend, overthrowing all expectations.
