Ari Aster made heads turn with “Hereditary” and “Midsommar” and his next easily made into the much awaited lists of all cinephiles. This A24 film Titled ” Disappointment Blvd “, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix and is heading straight for a Cannes International Film Festival Premiere, inside sources report.
Described as “an intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time” and “a nightmare comedy” by the director himself, the film for sure is set to gobsmack and divide viewers much like all of Aster’s previous films.
Ari Aster wrapped the filming last Summer. The film also stars Amy Ryan, Michael Gandolfini, Nathan Lane and Parker Posey. The mysterious film however originally went by the title of “Beau is Afraid.” Produced by A24, it’s third collaboration with director Ari Aster, Pawel Pogorzelski does the cinematography again as Aster’s frequent collaborator.
New films from Kelly Reichardt, Joanna Hogg, Ruben Ostlund, The Dardennes, Hirokazu Kore-eda, David Cronenberg, Park Chan-wook and James Gray are also expected to be part of this year’s Cannes competition slate.
