Ever since the release of James Cameron’s cult sci-fi action film ‘The Terminator’, Hollywood action legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has never broken his promise when he had said the famed words, “I’ll be back”. Because as per a recent report (via Deadline), streaming giant Netflix has ordered a spy adventure series featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger in what is being touted as his first major foray into a scripted television series.
The yet-untitled Netflix spy series will reportedly comprise eight episodes with a runtime of sixty minutes each. Alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, the series will also feature Monica Barbaro, who will next be seen in Tom Cruise’s upcoming film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
The Skydance TV produced Series is created by Nick Santora (Jack Reacher, The Sopranos, Prison Break). The show ostensibly revolves around a father-daughter duo (played by Schwarzenegger and Barbaro), who learn that their whole relationship has been a lie after knowing that they have been secretly working for the premier intelligence agency CIA and they are forced to team up as partners. Both Schwarzenegger and Santora will purportedly be executive producing the series alongside others.
Regarding the spy series, Schwarzenegger had earlier stated, “Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they’re finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix. I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with Nick and Monica and the whole team.”
This is not the first time Schwarzenegger will be seen in the role of a secret agent. After the humungous success of the Terminator films, James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger had teamed up again for the 1994 action-comedy film ‘True Lies’, which also featured Jamie Lee Curtis. The film followed the double life of a government agent, who simultaneously deals with his wife’s suspected affair besides defending his country by confronting terrorists.
It will be super interesting to see Arnold Schwarzenegger essaying the role of a secret agent yet again in the upcoming television series and his exciting new venture is certainly going to be a delight for his fans from all over the world. Including us.
