Pa. Ranjith will soon be back with the sequel to his 2021 hit ‘Sarpatta Parambarai‘. Actor Jamshad Cethirakath, popularly known by his stage name Arya will be reprising his role as the young boxer Kabilan Munirathnam. The film portrayed the boxing culture in Chennai of the 70s very beautifully. The sports drama was loved by audiences but was not able to do a very good business at the box office due to covid. But fans are excited with the news and definitely the sequel has higher chances of success than the first one.
A poster of the film has been released and it features Arya showing his boxing jersey flaunting the director’s name. Details about the returning of the rest of the crew have not been confirmed yet.
The movie had actors like Dushara Vijayan, Pasupathy, John Kokken, Kalaiyarasan, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay and Santhosh Prathap in other important roles. Most of them will reprise their respective roles.
The first movie ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ came out on the 22nd of July in 2021. The movie told the story of Kabilan, a young laborer from the Sarpatta clan who is a ferocious fighter. In North Chennai in the 1970s the Sarpatta Parambarai clan and Idiyappa Parambarai clan were against each other and in a clash between the two, a boxing match was decided. It being a do-or-die kind of match, everybody depended on Kabilan to win on behalf of them. He has to beat Vembuli, a champion of the Idiyappas to revive their glory and honor.
The film was a huge hit and gained critical acclaim. It was loved by audiences and fans are excited with the news of the second installment of the film.
