As Qala Is Approaching; A Key Lesson Netflix Must Learn!

Yesterday, Netflix revealed the trailer of their upcoming musical movie called Qala. The movie stars Tripti Dimri, Babil Khan, Amit Sial, Swastika Mukherjee, and even Varun Grover.

The platform has tapped the potential of dark comedies and pulp fiction through various films such as “Monica, O My Darling”, Darlings and Haseen Dillruba.

But a musical is different from that. Seeing the current trend in Indian theaters, a musical film is anyway not going to work. But we can’t say that the genre has lost its charm as there are people who crave it a lot.

Also, there is a complete dry ground for OTT in the genre of musicals. Apart from the Prime Video series Bandish Bandits, there hasn’t been any other show or movie that came into prominence.

But if an in-demand genre is coming on the dry ground then why does Netflix even need a lesson?

So that they don’t repeat the same mistake as they did with Monica O My Darling. With poor marketing and not-so-effective promotion, the film fell flat to gain views.

Qala doesn’t even have someone like Rajkummar Rao, let alone Alia Bhatt who pulled off Darlings. So they need to be extra creative with their strategies otherwise things will worsen instead of getting better.
