Asif Ali‘s latest, ‘Kotthu’ a Malayalam language political thriller released at the movies on 16th September. Although the film met with underwhelming box-office results, the reviews ranged from positive to mixed. The film is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
Kotthu is marked as the big come-back of Malayalam Cinema’s most celebrated prolific film-maker Sibi Malayil to the cinemas after 7 long years. Kotthu is Inspired from many real life incidents. The film narrates the life of political party workers from Northern part of Kerala and their bloodshed to strengthen the rebellious nature of the parties. The film also focuses on the efforts taken by the party workers to fight untouchability at workplace.
Kotthu is directed by Sibi Malayil and written by Hemanth Kumar. It was bankrolled by Ranjith and P. M. Sasidharan.The film stars Asif Ali, Nikhila Vimal, Roshan Mathew, Sudev Nair and Suresh Krishna in major roles. Jakes Bejoy composed the original score, while Kailas Menon composed the songs.
