Attention People! We Finally Have News On Brahmastra Release Date

It’s been more than 2 years now since the announcement of Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus Brahmastra, but till today the fans only met with disappointment as the film has been pushed for release for a long time now.

If we talk about the timeline of the film, In March 2019, Ayan joined Instagram and revealed that he is working on Brahmastra which will be an epic trilogy of God and wisdom. Gradually the cast was revealed and that’s where the fans started to become restless and why wouldn’t they? The film will feature Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Dimple Kapadia, Prateik Babbar and finally Shahrukh Khan in a small yet important role. To put cherry on top, Karan Johar has also joined with Ayan and Ranbir to produce this massive film. Now this could be the most gigantic casting in recent times and that’s what triggered the fans concerning the story.

Unfortunately, Ayan kept mum concerning the story of Brahmastra this entire time and the only thing we came to know is that Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Ranbir Kapoor will portray Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and it will be a supernatural romantic fairy tale set in the present day India. Ayan revealed the logo of the film also on 6th of March but from there, it’s been getting delayed. In April 2019, Ayan released an official statement stating that the VFX and post-production work of Brahmastra may take time to reach perfection and that’s why he is pushing the release date to summer 2020.

This is where everything went haywire as since 2020 the entire anatomy of filming has changed in the country because of the Covid-19 pandemic. After a long delay, when the makers were thinking about releasing it in 2021, the second wave of the pandemic has massacred their plan. And, now the makers along with Ayan are taking the final decision to release Brahmastra in Summer 2022, 3 years after the first announcement, with a hope that everything becomes normal by the time.

Ayar earlier stated that the Brahmastra trilogy is extremely close to his heart and he started working on it in 2011, when he was a rookie director working on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with his long time collaborator Ranbir Kapoor. Now as per the sources, almost all the portions of the shooting is completed with a few shots to be taken after everything comes back to normalcy and in the meanwhile. Ayan along with the VFX team is working on the special effects and post production in full-force. Reportedly, Nagarjuna and Shahrukh Khan have already completed their portion of the filming and the cast members Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy have expressed their joy on working with these screen legends along with Amitabh Bachchan.

Now, as the makers didn’t commit any release date and they have already clarified that this is a film which is suitable for big screen, and not a direct OTT release, we can now only hope that they makers stay with the plan of theatrically releasing Brahmastra : Part 1 in five different languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada) on Summer 2022, with no more delays.
