Nielsen’s latest overall top ten regular streaming titles list (for the week of 5th to 11th June 2023) is out now. And this week’s list is more or less dominated by two titles: James Cameron’s massively mounted blockbuster Avatar sequel ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and the Netflix sci-fi series ‘Manifest’. These titles have bagged the top two spots on the aforementioned Nielsen top ten list. But which one has got the No.1 spot?
The topmost title on the Nielsen top ten streaming list has been secured by ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ with more than a whopping number of 1.94 billion minutes of viewing under its belt. The movie had grossed over $2.3 billion at the box-office globally. And on the second spot is ‘Manifest’ with over an impressive 1.62 billion minutes of viewing.
Some other popular titles on the Nielsen top ten list are the Netflix series ‘Never Have I Ever’ (917 million minutes), Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spy action series FUBAR (819 million minutes), and the Apple TV+ show ‘Ted Lasso’ (641 million minutes), amongst others.
It is interesting to note that on the latest Nielsen top ten streaming list, a whopping number of seven out of ten titles are streaming on the Netflix OTT platform. While the other titles are streaming on the Paramount+, Hulu, Apple TV+, Max, Peacock, and Disney+ streaming services.
Coming back to this week’s top ranked title ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, the film follows a disabled former Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), who was sent as an Avatar to an incredible moon called Pandora, inhabiting the evolved Na’vi race. After reaching there, Jake fell in love with a Na’vi woman Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). They are now living together with their kids in Pandora and their efforts to keep their family safe from a new human threat. It’s streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.
