‘Vicky Donor’ actor Ayushmann Khurrana took to Instagram to post a picture of the cover page of the script of his upcoming film ‘Doctor G’. The uploaded picture, marked with the words “And it begins!”, revealed Dr.Uday Gupta as the name of the character that he is essaying in the film. Further, keeping his endearing sense of humour intact, he also playfully wrote: “Nahin Doonga” (Will not give) on the space beside the address and phone number section.
‘Doctor G’ is touted to be a comedy film that is reportedly based on the campus of a medical institute. As per a leading movie website, the story revolves around three siblings who meet for the first time at their grandmother’s funeral in India. The film also stars ‘Aiyaary’ actress Rakul Preet Singh playing the role of Dr.Fatima, a medical student, and Ayushmann’s senior. ‘Doctor G’ is being directed by Anubhuti Kashyap (Director of dark-comedy show ‘Afsos’ featuring Gulshan Devaiah) and this will mark her feature-film directorial debut.
Speaking about the film, Ayushmann Khurrana had earlier stated: “Doctor G is a script that I fell in love with instantly because it is super fresh. It is an extremely unique and an innovative concept that will make you laugh and also make you ponder. I’m excited to don the doctor’s coat for the first time in my career and also deliver a message in the process that will hopefully speak directly to your hearts.”
Four times Filmfare Award winner Ayushmann Khurrana’s career started off as a radio jockey. He got his first feature film break as the leading actor in Shoojit Sircar’s romantic comedy ‘Vicky Donor’ where he was cast opposite Yami Gautam.
Eventually, Ayushmann went on to deliver praiseworthy performances in slice-of-life, feel-good, and socially relevant films like ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ (co-starring Bhumi Pednekar), ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (co-starring Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Kriti Sanon), Sriram Raghavan’s ground-breaking mystery-thriller ‘Andhadhun’ (co-starring Tabu and Radhika Apte), ‘Bala’ (co-starring Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam) and Anubhav Sinha’s hard-hitting ‘Article 15’. His forthcoming films are Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Anek’ and Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’.
