The teaser trailer for Amy Winehouse’s biopic, Back to Black, is out now. Marisa Abela will play the late popular English singer in the upcoming Sam Taylor-Johnson directional.
Back to Black has been bankrolled by the trio of Focus Features, StudioCanal, and Monumental Pictures, with a script written by Matt Greenhalgh.
The latest clip shows Marisa Abela playing the iconic British singer, Amy Winehouse, who lost her life due to alcohol poisoning in 2011.
Back to Black will serve as a never-before-seen glimpse into the extravagant and chaotic life of Amy Winehouse. The film will primarily focus on the singer’s early rise to fame and the release of her first smashingly hit album, Back to Black. Its story will be told from Winehouse’s perspective. Being a North London jazz musician, she quickly rose to prominence across the globe. Some of her hit songs are “Rehab”, “Back to Black”, and “Valerie”.
“I don’t write music to be famous,” Abela’s Winehouse says in the clip. “I write songs because I don’t what I’d do if I didn’t.”
Apart from Marisa Abela, Back to Black stars Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan and Lesley Manville. It will be released in the United Kingdom on April 12, 2024. Then, it will arrive in the United States on May 10, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
