Nandamuri Balakrishna‘s Akhanda is all set for theatrical release. Several reliable reports claim that the Balakrishna starrer will be out in theatres this December. Now, an interesting update pertaining to the OTT release of the film has surfaced on social media. It is heard that the post theatrical OTT rights of Akhanda were bagged by Disney+ Hotstar.
Disney+ Hotstar, for a while now, has been trying to expand its base in the Telugu states. The platform recently bagged the direct to digital rights of Nithiin’s Maestro and the film is streaming on the platform. Now, the OTT giant seems to have landed a mainstream Telugu biggie – Akhanda. Needless to say, Disney+ Hotstar might have shelled out big bucks for the post theatrical digital rights of Akhanda, given the scale of the project and the hype surrounding it.
Akhanda is in the final leg of production now and is all set for its theatrical release. The film marks the third collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu with the previous two being Legend and Simha, both of them proving to be box office blockbusters. Akhanda is one of the most anticipated Telugu films of the year and it would most certainly boost Hotstar’s reach in the twin Telugu states.
Akhanda is billed to be a full-on mass masala action entertainer. The film has Pragya Jaiswal in the female lead role. An official announcement on Akhanda’s OTT partner will be out shortly.
