The situation of the country is vulnerable at the moment after lots of outrage happening in the past few months. And the toll of this is being suffered by the movies and web series which are scheduled to release in the coming weeks.
No actor or actress has been left and everyone has been on the trending list of Twitter with the netizens demanding a ban or boycott. Now in the line has come Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror comedy – Laxmii, a remake of “Kanchana”, which was earlier titled Laxmmi Bomb. But due to the political pressures on Karni Sena, which claimed that the movie is hurting Hindu Sentiments, the makers decided to take a safe route and rename the movie.
But it seems the path till release hasn’t gotten obstacle free for the Laxmii team, as the movie once again on the wrong side of Twitter trends. Netizens are demanding a ban on the movie as it seemingly hurts Hindu sentiments and promotes Love Jihad.
According to several people, the case of Love Jihad is ever increasing in the country and it is not long ago, that a jewellery ad was taken down because it “glorified” Love Jihad. People are trending that the character played by Akshay Kumar is that of a Muslim man named Asif who is in love with a Hindu girl named Priya ( played by Kiara Advani ).
Several users also commented on the fact that the movie hurts Hindu Sentiments by using the name of God’s and that the case is going on since a long time.
Seeing the protests, what will be the next move by the makers is the talking point of the town. With the release date so close, the negativity around the movie will hamper it’s chances to become successful.
