Any sincere Telugu-film aficionado will know how integral the films of Bapu and Ramana (Mullapudi) have been in influencing several filmmakers and spectators for generations. No director-writer duo has managed to portray the love for their roots, traditions and mythology as the two have done for decades across several media.
In what’s perhaps a delayed but a welcoming attempt to celebrate their contribution to Telugu literature and cinema, a Youtube channel was launched by the descendants of the families in December 2019. Binged.com learns that the families of Bapu and Ramana have worked very hard to put a team together to curate content for the channel.
Several leading film personalities including K Viswanath, MM Keeravani, S P Balasubramanyam have given their video bytes to introduce the channel to netizens. Binged.com has also found out that the families commemorating the month of Margasira (the month before Sankranti), have come up with a digital project to focus on Mullapudi’s Telugu translation of Thiruppavai enhanced by Bapu’s visual illustrations.
In an exclusive chat with Binged.com, Vara Mullapudi, filmmaker and son of writer Mullapudi Venkataramana tells us, “It’s been a long wait for us to launch the channel in the digital medium, it was delayed due to various reasons. Every Bapu-Ramana fan will find this Youtube channel a treasure trove of enriching content.”
