After halting the IPL Match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala yesterday, BCCI has today announced it’s decision to suspend rest of the 2025 IPL with immediate effect.
According to the official press release, this suspension is for one week as of now and “further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.”
Jiostar, the league’s official broadcaster has also offered their unwavering support for this step. The platform has further stated that it will work with the BCCI to bring back the tournament at an appropriate time.
The move comes amidst the increased security concerns due to the ongoing political and military tension between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack at Pahalgam. India had conducted Operation Sindoor as a response to this attack and targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India had been planned and directed.
