Kenneth Branagh‘s critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical film ‘Belfast’ swept the awards season this year. The film won the top awards at all the prestigious awards events – the 94th Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, the BAFTAs, and more. Belfast released in theatres in the US on November 12, 2021, and worldwide in subsequent months. However, the film skipped releasing in Indian theatres.
Film buffs in India have been waiting since forever for the critically acclaimed Belfast to stream on an Indian streaming platform. All those who can’t wait to watch Belfast, take heart! The film is finally gearing up to release on digital in India. Belfast will stream in India on BookMyShow Stream, albeit as ‘pay per view’. Belfast OTT release date is set as June 3 on BookMyShow Stream.
‘Belfast’ is written and directed by Kenneth Branagh. The film stars Caitríona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciarán Hinds, Colin Morgan, and debutant child actor Jude Hill. The film is told through the eyes of the spunky 9-year-old, Buddy (Jude Hill), a fictional version of Kenneth Branagh himself. The narrative recounts the young boy’s childhood and his family’s travails in the backdrop of 1969 Northern Ireland, when the region was caught in the grip of ethnic-nationalist conflicts, aka ‘The Troubles’.
The tragic but uplifting film is a must watch for sure. Belfast streams on BookMyShow Stream from June 3 on pay per view. Have a look at the trailer of the film here –
