After much wait Ben Affleck’s widely acclaimed biographical sports drama ‘Air’ is finally coming to Amazon Prime Video later this month on 12th May, 2023.
‘Air’ was initially meant to premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video but the streamer decided to release the film theatrically first. This makes it the second Amazon title after the 2019 film ‘Late Night’ to be released in theatres before landing on the platform.
Directed by Ben Affleck, written by Alex Convery and based on true events, ‘Air’ is about the origin of Air Jordan, a basketball shoeline, of which a Nike employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie player Michael Jordan.
Apart from directing Affleck, alongside Matt Damon, also stars in and produces ‘Air’ under their newly found banner Artists Equity. In addition to Affleck and Damon, the film’s star studded cast includes Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, Chris Messina, Matthew Maher, Marlon Wayans, Gustaf Skarsgård and Julius Tennon.
‘Air’ has received good response from the critics who have praised Affleck’s direction, Convery’s screenplay and the performances of the cast in particular. The film is one of the highly anticipated titles to premiere on Amazon Prime Video this year.
Production companies bankrolling ‘Air’ are Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures. ‘Air’ will be available to stream for Prime Video India subscribers from 12th May, 2023 onwards.
