Music is not just an indispensable part of Indian films, it is also an indispensable part of the movie’s money business as well. There are many instances where we have seen that a movie is saved only because of its songs.
In Bollywood it is a pre-existing technique to earn through music rights, but it is happening in West Bengal too now. The upcoming movie Bohurupi has collected a hefty amount of 50 lakhs through its music rights.
Bohurupi is indeed one of the most anticipated titles in Bengali this year and comes from a director duo that has not failed to satisfy its audiences. Bohurupi is directed by Nandita and Shiboprosad and stars actors like Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari, who are reuniting after the movie ‘Fatafati’. Shiboprosad himself is in an important role in the movie.
The director duo have given the credits of this feat to the music team of the movie. Nonichora Das Baul and Shrestha Das who have composed the songs. This might be a very important time in the history of music in Bengali films and it should be kept in mind that musicians should be duly credited and there must be no credit issues with them.
‘Bohurupi’ has some beautiful songs like ‘Dakatiya Banshi’, ‘Aj Shara Bela’, ‘Shimul Polash’ and they have gathered quite a huge number of views on YouTube. It is good that the movies are earning before their theatrical releases through music and this should be a prominent way in the Bengali industry too.
