2022 has been a brilliant year for the Kannada film industry. Although many Kannada language films were released this year, three movies which stood apart in a grand way were ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’, ‘777 Charlie’, and ‘Kantara’. Although all three of them have their own fan following, we were still curious to know which one has been the best reviewed Kannada film of the year 2022. So, let’s find out.
For this article, we have considered average review scores of these three films namely ‘KGF 2’, ‘777 Charlie’, and ‘Kantara’ from Google reviews and IMDb.
As per Google reviews, ‘KGF 2’ has received 4.8/5 net rating based on around 1.29 lakh ratings. On the other hand, ‘777 Charlie’ and ‘Kantara’ have received 4.9/5 and 4.8/5 ratings respectively.
And as per international movies database portal IMDb, ‘KGF 2’ has received a user rating of 8.3/10. On the other hand, ‘777 Charlie’ and ‘Kantara’ have received 8.9/10 and 8.6/10 user ratings respectively.
So, if we average out the ratings for these three Kannada movies from Google reviews and IMDb, they have got the following scores.
‘KGF-2’ Reviews Average Score = 8.95/10
‘777 Charlie’ Reviews Average Score = 9.35/10
‘Kantara’ Reviews Average Score = 9.1/10
So, as per above reviews analysis, it’s neither ‘Kantara’ nor ‘KGF-2’ which has received the best reviews on Google and IMDb, but it’s emotionally charged comedy drama ‘777 Charlie’ which has beaten both these films to become the best reviewed Kannada film of 2022. And in second place is ‘Kantara’ while in third place is ‘KGF-2’.

Kantara (Streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video)
The man vs nature centric film has been written and directed by and features actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty. The film is set in the fictional village of Kantara and follows the story of a hot-headed henchman named Shiva (Rishab Shetty). When a forest officer Murali (Kishore) tries to stop the local superstitions in the village and save the forest from the residents, Shiva locks horns with Murali with support from his landlord (Achyuth Kumar).
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video)
It is the second installment of Prashanth Neel’s 2018 directorial film K.G.F: Chapter 1’. Kannada star Yash reprises his role as the top-notch assassin Rocky who masqueraded as a laborer in the titular Kolar Gold Fields in the first film. The sequel showcases Rocky’s story arc as the new KGF boss and his fight against a formidable adversary and the government. KGF-2 also features Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist Adheera, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
