The Lion King film by Jon Favreau that released in 2019 had its musical album by none other than Beyoncé titled “The Lion King : The Gift”.
Based on this album, the singer, producer, director, songwriter and Queen, Beyoncé is releasing a film/visual album called “Black Is King” set to premiere on 31st July on Disney + globally. The album is to explore reimagining of The Lion King for current young kings and queens in search of their crowns.
Disney+ that serves as a combined platform showcasing exclusive Disney films, Marvel live action shows, Star Wars series and much more launched last year has signed an exclusive deal for more projects with the singer, although unconfirmed as of now.
‘Black Is King’ stars some special guest appearances along with artists originally in the musical album The Lion King : The Gift including Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Pharrell, Kelly Rowland and Blue Ivy Carter.
‘Black Is King’ is produced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment.
