Beyond the Spider-Verse Producers Give Update On Film’s Release Date

Sony broke the hearts of millions of Spider-Man fans last month when it announced Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release postponement. Though, the studio remained hopeful that the threequel would arrive in theatres in 2024. However, the latest update from the producers indicates that the film may not come out next year at all.

Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently talked to Digital Spy about Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release window and their upcoming series, Strays. The writer/producer duo did not give an exact release date but revealed that the threequel would come out “when it is ready”.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was supposed to hit theatres globally on March 29, 2024. However, the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strikes forced Sony to pull the plug on the film’s March release window.

“What we’re trying to accomplish with the film is have it be the most satisfying conclusion to the story than it can be, and take it to places that you haven’t been before. And make you laugh and cry, and cheer and think,” Christopher Miller said.

Lord and Miller’s recent comments indicate that Sony does not want to take any risk regarding the production and release of Beyond the Spider-Verse. The previous instalment, Across the Spider-Verse, has earned over $680 million globally and has been declared one of the best films of 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.
