There are rumors, all of sudden, in the Telugu film industry that Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak is opting for a Direct-To-OTT release. Some tabloids have reported that the makers have asked the OTT players to come up with rates for the Direct-To-OTT Release as well as Post-Theatrical OTT rights.
If the offers are rosy, the makers may consider skipping the theatrical release. We heard similar rumors about the star’s earlier film – Vakeel Saab but the movie was finally released in theaters. Binged.com tried to touch base with our sources in the OTT industry and Telugu film industry regarding this news and here is what we heard.
“Bheemla Nayak is a perfect theatrical material and the recent promotions have helped the movie big time. Theater Business is springing back to normal in both the Telugu states and it would become even better by January (Pongal release). Chances are next to negligible to go for a Direct-to-OTT release,” the source in Tollywood told us.
“Pawan Kalyan alone takes home 50 Crore as Remuneration. Probably, more for Bheemla Nayak. Bheemla Nayak is a remake film and so limited chances in markets other than Telugu. It is not an easy value for any OTT player for investing so much. However, given the popularity of the star, such calculations take a back seat. But as of now, there is no such proposal from what we hear,” an expert in the OTT industry said to us.
