The highly anticipated second season of the International Emmy Award-winning show ‘Delhi Crime’ will start streaming on the Netflix OTT platform from 26th August. The series’ official trailer (attached below) was unveiled a couple of days back by Netflix and it was quite well received by netizens.
The first season of ‘Delhi Crime’ mainly revolved around the police investigation to nab the culprits responsible for the despicable gang rape that happened in the capital city. The season featured proficient actors like Shefali Shah (Satya, Dil Dhadakne Do, Monsoon Wedding), Rajesh Tailang (Mirzapur, Selection Day), Rasika Dugal (Mirzapur, Out of Love) and Adil Hussain (English Vinglish, Agent Vinod), amongst others.
The aforementioned cast from ‘Delhi Crime Season-1’ have reprised their roles for the upcoming season. But there is one big and very important difference between ‘Delhi Crime Season-1’ and ‘Delhi Crime Season-2’ which you might have not noticed. Besides a different storyline of course.
And the difference which we are talking about is that of the series’ director. While ‘Delhi Crime Season-1’ was written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta, he is not the one who has directed the show’s second season. Season-2 has in fact been directed by a relatively unknown name of mainstream cinema – Tanuj Chopra. Although Ritchie Mehta still acts as the executive producer.
The Silicon Valley-raised Tanuj Chopra is an American filmmaker who made his feature film directorial debut with the drama movie ‘Punching at the Sun’. Later, he went on to direct the series ‘Nice Girl Crew’ and films such as ‘Nature Boy’, comedy movie ‘Chee and T’, ‘Grass’, and the comedy drama ‘Staycation’. It would be interesting to see how ‘Delhi Crime’ Season-2 will turn out to be with Tanuj Chopra behind the camera instead of Ritchie Mehta. Until then, watch the ‘Delhi Crime Season-2’ trailer below.
