RRR has been nominated in the Golden Globes Awards in the category of best Non-English language film. It is the first for any Indian film to make it to the top five. Previously many Indian films like Mira Nair’s ‘Salaam Bombay’, ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath’, ‘Visanarai’ were nominated for the highly prestigious award. This year, the films that were submitted for the award from India included ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Kantara’ and India’s official Oscar submission ‘Chello Show’. There was controversy regarding choosing ‘Chello Show’ over ‘RRR’ for the Oscars, but now the short-listed nominations prove the affect that the movie has.
Also, RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ is nominated for the award of Best original song in the Golden Globes Awards. It is quite a history that RRR has made globally.
It is great news for fans as M.M Keeravani recently won the prestigious award for best original score from the Boston Society Of Film Critics. And there are high chances that ‘Naatu Naatu’ will win this one too. It will be the first for any Indian film too to have won a Golden Globes in the category of best original music. RRR has dominated the world of foreign movies this year and it has got huge applause from all over the the globe. And the groovy dance track definitely had an affect in the minds of the audiences.
RRR will have to compete with ‘Argentina’, ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’, ‘1985’, ‘Close’ and ‘Decision To Leave’ for the award of Best Non-English movie. These two nominations will boost the chances for the movie in the Academy Awards too.
