Bill Murray Cast in a Secret Role in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’

Just as MCU enthusiasts were busy decoding the logo of the Ant-Man sequel titled ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, veteran actor-comedian Bill Murray has revealed in a recent interview while promoting his forthcoming acting project ‘The French Dispatch’ by Wes Anderson that he has shot for a Marvel project.

Bill Murray was apparently referring to none other than the third Ant-Man movie. The details were indirectly disclosed to the German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung by the actor without naming the Ant-Man film.

A portion of the German to English translation regarding what Bill Murray stated in the interview: “You know, recently I made a Marvel movie. I probably won’t tell you, but never mind. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleader story “Bring It On – Girls United” he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good.”

When Bill Murray talked about the film ‘Bring It On’, we knew that he was talking about ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ because ‘Bring It On’ was helmed by Peyton Reed, who is also directing the latest Ant-Man film.

While many MCU fans might think that ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is Bill Murray’s first foray into Marvel territory, it is mention-worthy that the eminent actor had lent his voice to play Johnny Storm for the Fantastic Four radio show back in the 70s. The inclusion of an actor of Bill Murray’s caliber could add another interesting dimension to the latest Ant-Man film. The actor’s repertoire of work includes films such as ‘Groundhog Day, ‘Ghostbusters’, and ‘Lost in Translation, to name a few.

However, what role Bill Murray is playing in the upcoming Ant-Man movie is currently not known and like all Marvel movies, the film’s precise plot is being kept under the wraps. What we know is that filming of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is currently underway and that its primary antagonist will be Kang the Conqueror being played by Jonathan Majors.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are set to reprise their roles of Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne respectively alongside the inclusion of Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer besides the new and probably one-off addition of Bill Murray. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is slated for a theatrical on 28th July 2023.
