Binged Yearender: Top Korean Series On OTT In 2023

Practically speaking, it has been some time that Korean content is booming. More than that, Korean culture is taking over the viewers, and that is transitioning to the love for Korean titles.

In 2022, the Korean Government themselves announced a four-year-long plan to make Korean content more globally acceptable. Now, with that initiative, Korea is gifting the world some of the finest things to watch on OTT, and here are some names that you should definitely stream.

Now, these following titles aren’t strictly in a list format but in a random order, so keep that in mind.

Death’s Game (Prime Video)

This is probably the most recent title of the bunch and is currently one of the most buzzy titles of the streaming giants.

Seo In Guk nails the role perfectly, and the plot is indeed an interesting one. And if we talk about having a deal with the devil, the series hits all the right spots. Also, it shifts from one lodge to another as all of them have their own spices, making it a great watch.

The Good Bad Mother (Netflix)

Single mother and that too being a strict parent, this series does reignite the wounds that we have collected through the years with the unspoken words.

And as he grows up, moves apart from the mother after becoming a prosecutor. But again, after an accident, he turns into a child and moves in with the mother in the hometown. And then it is followed up with the question, will the relationship mend?

Daily Dose of Sunshine (Netflix)

A medical drama, that too focusing on the psychological aspects of various events of a nurse, these are good enough reasons to stream it as Netflix, slowly but surely, tries to capture the K-drama audience.

And it also creates a very sweet sense of romance that is not at all extravagant but a very subtle one. Also, with some great screen presence, this manages to capture attention in no time.

Twinkling Watermelon (Viki)

A musically gifted CODA boy time-travels to 1995 after entering a music store, forms the band Watermelon Sugar with his father, and connects with enigmatic peers through the universal language of music.

With good acting and evoking emotions, this will definitely be an emotional rollercoaster as it also ventures into the world of romance and adventure as well.

Moving (Disney+Hotstar)

“Moving” is a Korean drama series directed by Park In-jae and starring Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo, Zo In-sung, Cha Tae-hyun, Ryoo Seung-bum, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Jung-ha, Go Youn-jung, and Kim Do-hoon. The series tells the story of a group of people who move into a new apartment building and experience strange and supernatural events.

Within a mere week of being released on Hulu and Disney+, it became the most-watched Korean series ever. It is funny, horrifying, and entertaining to the core.

The Worst of Evil ( Disney+Hotstar)

“The Worst of Evil” is a Korean drama series starring Ji Chang-wook, Wi Ha-joon, Im Se-mi, and Bibi. The series tells the story of a police officer tasked with hunting down a crime mafia behind the drug trade triangle in Japan, Korea, and China.

“The Worst of Evil” is a gripping and intense thriller that explores the dark side of human nature. The series is expertly directed and features strong performances from the cast. It is a must-watch for fans of Korean dramas and crime thrillers.

Revenant (Disney+Hotstar)

“Revenant” is a Korean drama series starring Kim Tae-ri, Oh Jung-se, and Hong Kyung. The storyline follows a young woman who becomes inhabited by a supernatural entity and a folklore professor with the ability to perceive ghosts. United in their quest, they aim to unravel the enigma behind a series of puzzling suicides occurring in the city.

“Revenant” is a supernatural crime thriller that explores similar themes. The series is beautifully shot and features strong performances from the cast. It is a must-watch for fans of Korean dramas and supernatural thrillers.

My Dearest (Viki)

With a 9 on IMDb, “My Dearest” is indeed one of the dearest shows for Korean drama viewers as it explores the romance genre. Focusing on an existentialist character while injecting romance, it manages to be a gripping watch.

Also, with good visuals and acting, the show becomes a compelling watch for viewers, taking them on an emotional rollercoaster.

Agency (Netflix & Viki)

Office dramas are indeed a fun watch for everyone, as this genre has offered us some of the most classic titles. Though Agency offers a more serious tone, contrasting the millions of comedies made on this topic, Agency is indeed a great watch.

Good character build-up, along with great office politics and some psychological twists, has managed to be an interesting watch for viewers with a 7.8 rating on IMDb.

Mask Girl (Netflix)

In “Masked Reflections,” Kim Mo-Mi, an ordinary office worker, transforms into the confident Mask Girl during her nightly live broadcasts. When her colleague, Joo Oh-Nam, discovers her secret and develops feelings for her, their lives intertwine unexpectedly.

Now, infused with a touch of Mystory, the show manages to be one of the most interesting titles of the entire year.
