The year 2023 was a completely mixed-bag year for the Telegu film industry. While some production houses got some big hits, the rest focused more on constantly supporting Tollywood and feeding hundreds of cine workers. This year, the industry bestowed audiences with a blend of disappointing, average, and highly impressive releases, covering several genres such as action thrillers, romance, emotional dramas, and more. Below are the top production houses in Tollywood in 2023.
Mythri Movie Makers
Compared to all other prominent Telugu production houses, Mythri Movie Makers undoubtedly had the most successful 2023. The production house bestowed five features this year, including big hits like Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. Thanks to the charm and stardom of Ravi Teja and the great Chiranjeevi, Waltair Veerayya minted over 225 crores at the box office. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy gave a great start to Tollywood this year with a strong collection of 134 crores. However, Amigos and Kushi turned out disappointing. Sathi Gani Rendu Ekaralu was the studio’s maiden OTT release this year.
Sithara Entertainments
Under the guidance of Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Sithara Entertainments actively supported the Telugu film industry throughout the year 2o23. Dhanush’s Sir (Vaathi in Tamil) was the production house’s biggest hit this year, with an impressive collection of nearly 118 crores. Kalyan Shankar’s MAD surprised everyone as it delivered money to everyone who was a part of the trade. However, Aadikeshava turned out to be a box office bomb. Sithara also bankrolled Butta Bomma this year, which was also a disappointment.
SLV Cinemas
Dasara, starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh, was a critical and commercial success for SLV Cinemas in 2023, earning an impressive box office figure of 118.5 crores. But we cannot say the same about SLV’s second release this year, Naga Shaurya’s Rangabali, which flopped at the box office.
Shine Screens
Sahu Garapati’s Shine Screens opened its account this year with Ugram but faced disappointment. Though, it received some stability from Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Arjun Rampal, Sreeleela, and Kajal Aggarwal.
Dil Raju
Dil Raju bestowed three releases this year – Varasudu, Balagam, and Shakuntalam. Varasudu turned out to be a decent hit, while Balagam took some time to strengthen its roots at the box office, emerging as a sleeper hit. However, Shankuntalam was a big financial bomb.
