Binged Yearenders: Top 10 English Movies On OTT 2021

2021 is about to end. This year, we saw some amazing films and some of them were simply not worth it. This year was neither excellent nor pathetic for cinematic content.

But to say goodbye to this year, we have come up with some English films from 2021 that you should definitely watch.

10. Concrete Cowboy- Netflix
In India, this film was released digitally on Netflix. This western drama revolves around a 15-year-old boy called Cole. He goes to live with his estranged father. But, Cole being rebellious in nature finds company amongst black cowboys in Philadelphia.

It had a fairly decent direction and even the story was kind of innovative for a western film.

09. The Harder They Fall- Netflix
Again a western, this film is a typical revenge drama starring Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Regina King and Jonathan Majors.

Rufus Buck and Cortez shoot dead the parents of 11 years old Nat Love. After two decades Nat Love finds Cortez and kills him.

What makes this film so special is the brilliant acting and dialogue delivery.

The BGM is great and you will feel like watching a classic.

08. To All the Boys: Always and Forever- Netflix
Romantic comedies are not as popular as they used to be. But, it still has a dedicated fanbase and we can’t deny its existence.

This film is based on a novel and revolves around the life of Lara Jean. She accompanies her father to Seoul where she reconnects with her childhood.

After that, we see the sweet and salty relationship with her boyfriend and the long-distance relationship. This is not a great romantic film but it definitely one of the best from 2021.

07. The Dig- Netflix
This period drama set in the 1930s revolves around a landlord Edith Pretty. He hires an archaeologist called Basil Brown.

When he starts digging the mound then a gigantic and strange thing from the dark ages appears. This film has been directed with utmost perfection. The background music, the horror elements and everything are so creatively done that we can’t help but appreciate the overall editing process. This is a great film to watch if you like period dramas.

06. The Guilty- Netflix
Jake Gyllenhaal played a 911 operator in the film. Based on a 2018 film by the same name, this film came out to be a thrill machine.

It becomes fairly easy to thrill the audience through car chase sequences or simply going out in the open. But, Jake Gyllenhaal did not have any of these options. He was just sitting inside a room and trying his best to serve a lady who had been abducted.

The brilliant performance and insane background music make this film such a worthy watch.

05. CODA- Apple TV+
The only hearing member of a deaf family is Ruby. From a very early age, she helps her parents in earning their living. But after she goes to high school, her priorities change. She joins a choir and follows her passion for music but won’t that affect her family’s living?

This beautiful tale has a lot of emotional disputes that we all go through at one point or another.

04. Black Widow– Disney+Hotstar
Scarlette Johansson is an amazing actor and superstar. Although Black Widow was more popular for the lawsuit that Scarlette filed against the producers, this film stole the attention. When this film was released then the breath-stopping action sequences were really amazing.

This film was praiseworthy not only in visuals but story and BGM as well. If you are a marvel fan then this is a must-watch.

03. Judas And The Black Messiah- Prime Video
Based on the real events of the 1960s USA, this film is a worthy watch. William O’Neal was aN FBI spy who infiltrated the Black Panther Party. He is supposed to have a role in the killing of Fred Hampton by the police. Fred if you know was the head of BPP in Illinois.

This is a heart-wrenching tale of betrayal and human rights. It is undoubtedly one of the best films of the year and deserves a watch.

02. Tick, Tick… Boom!- Netflix
This recent release is a biopic based on the musical autobiography by playwright Jonathan Larson. Andrew Garfield played the lead role and we couldn’t help but appreciate the confusion he showed on screen with utmost clarity.

Lorson was getting ground between love, friendship and career and Garfield showed all of that with sheer perfection.

01. The Power Of The Dog- Netflix
This recent Netflix release is a western. It has Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons in the lead role. It is based on a 1967 novel of the same name.

This movie is set in the 1920s on two brothers Phil and George Burbank. It had some insanely powerful performances and a beyond perfect direction. The film received highly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike and is definitely going to be counted as one of the best westerns ever made.
