We have seen the releases of some very memorable movies that came directly on various streaming platforms. Viewers enjoyed a wide range of OTT original movies from different countries. Here is a very carefully selected list of foreign films that won the hearts of audiences so that you do not miss out the best releases of this year.

10. The Fallout (Streaming On Amazon Prime Video):
‘The Fallout’ is written and directed by Megan Park and stars actors like Jenna Ortega of ‘Wednesday’ fame, Julie Bowen, John Ortiz, Niles Fitch, Will Ropp and others. The Fallout tells the story of a high school girl Vada, who tries to reinvent herself and reevaluate her relationships. She goes out of her daily routine, challenges herself in different ways and starts spending more time with Mia, and grows closer to her. It is a great teen drama and you should watch it if you like such movies.

9. Watcher (Streaming On Zee5 On Rent):
‘Watcher’ is a psychological thriller written and directed by Chloe Okuno and tells the story of a series of murders in the city of Bucharest. An actress who has moved there recently with her boyfriend notices a strange man watching her across the street from time to time. She fears that this may be the serial killer who is decapitating young women. The film stars Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman, and Burn Gorman in the lead roles. Watcher is a great thriller and has garnered appreciation from critics and audiences and you should watch it if you are a fan of thrillers.

8. Athena (Streaming On Netflix):
‘Athena’ is an epic action drama directed by Romain Gavras and tells the story of four Muslim brothers of Algerian descent, Idir, Karim, Moktar and Abdel. Idir is brutally killed by some racist French people. The three mournjng brothers, one a drug dealer, one a soldier and one a community leader are all outraged with the event. The movie stars actors like Dali Benssalah, Sami Slimane, Anthony Bajon, Ouassini Embarek and Alexis Manenti. You should watch the movie if you like period dramas and if you are a fan of French films.

7. Kimi (Streaming On Amazon Prime Video):
‘Kimi’ is a movie that tells the story of a tech employee Kimi who is actually very smart and talented but suffers from Agarophobia, a condition that makes one fear crowds. Kimi witnesses a violent crime and is resisted when she tries to report it, so she has to walk out of her apartment which she actually hates and fear. The movie is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Zoë Kravitz in the lead role.

6. The Greatest Beer Run Ever (Streaming On AppleTV+):
‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ is a war/comedy drama and is directed by Peter Farrelly. It stars Zac Effron and Russell Crowe in the lead roles. The film follows a true story about a war veteran Donohue, who goes to Vietnam amidst the infamous and controversial Vietnam war to serve his friends with some beer. The script was actually adapted from John ‘Chick’ Donohue’s self-published memoir. You should not miss the movie if you are a fan of such weird and unique approaches to comedy films.

5. Prey (Streaming On Disney+Hotstar):
‘Prey’ is the fifth installment of the Predator franchise and it acts as the prequel to all the previous four. The film is written by Patrick Aison and directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Prey tells the story of Naru, who is a very skilled warrior and wants to prove her ability in front of her tribe. She has to against French poachers who are killing the buffaloes they rely on for the fur. In the meantime, her tribe is in danger as a humanoid monstrous alien is constantly hunting down people for fun. Amber Midthunder plays the lead in the movie and has done a wonderful job there.

4. Pinocchio (Streaming On Netflix):
Guillermo Del Toro’s dream has finally come true and we are fortunate enough to experience the cinematic beauty of the stop-motion version of ‘Pinocchio’. It is a classic retelling of the story by Carlo Collodi where a wooden boy is brought to life by a father’s wish but the father and the boy find it hard to make a place for themselves in the troubled Italy of that time. It is undoubtedly the best among the numerous adaptations of the story and if you are a fan of animation, you should not miss ‘Pinocchio’.

3. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (Streaming On Netflix):
‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘ is the sequel to the 2019 crime thriller ‘Knives Out’. It stars talented actors like Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Edward Norton and Kathryn Hahn. Glass Onion is written and directed by Rian Johnson and tells the story of billionaire Miles Bron who invites his friends for a meetup and get-together on his private Greek Island. Detective Benoit Blanc is appointed to solve a murder when someone turns up dead at the get-together.

2. Enola Holmes 2 (Streaming On Netflix):
The sequel to the 2020 film ‘Enola Holmes’ is a funny mystery story directed by Harry Bradbeer. Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill reprise their roles as Enola and Sherlock and Helena Botham Carter plays Eudoria Holmes. The movie is adapted from the novel ‘The Case Of The Left-Handed Lady’ written by Nancy Springer. Enola Holmes investigates the disappearance of a young girl Lady Cecily after she finds some of her charcoal drawings. It has elements of comedy and of suspense and is a perfect watch if you are fan of Mystery thrillers.

1.All Quiet On The Western Front (Streaming On Netflix):
‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ is a German war drama and is directed by Edward Berger. It is adapted from the novel of the same name by Eric Maria Remarque. The movie tells the story of a young idealistic boy Paul Bäumer who joins the German army during the closing days of World War 2. He is eexposed to the realities of war and tries hard to survive, and his ideologies and hopes of becoming a hero are shattered in the process. The movie stars actors like Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Hülk and many more and they have given wonderful performances for the movie. You should definitely watch ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ if you like war dramas as it is more detailed than the original novel in some areas.
