Binged Yearenders: Top Content Creators on OTT 2022

2022, much like past few years, has been a great one for OTTs and the plethora of content that came out this year is a conspicuous proof of that. The debate on how many subscriptions one needs is somewhat off the table now with consumers getting multiple platform subscriptions to catch up on their favourite shows and films.

While it was an amazing year for cinemas as well with audience going back to the theatres for biggies like KGF Chapter 2, RRR, The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and more, OTT has created an irreplaceable and unique niche for itself. So much so that there’s OTT specific production houses and creators now, who know what the digital audience wants and are working meticulously for providing it to them.

Over the years production quality for Indian OTT content has also improved a lot alongside the content itself. And the credit goes to such dedicated production houses and studios that are constantly churning out the best content. It all comes down to who were actually the best OTT content creators for 2022 and here we have, after much research, the very list ranking the various creators according to their content’s quantity and quality. We also have a winner and a runner-up!

11.Friday Storytellers:
The digital content wing of Friday Filmworks and founded by acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Pandey (‘’A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby, ‘M.S. Dhoni- An Untold Story’), Friday Storytellers gave the audience hit crime thriller drama series ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’ (Netflix) and Manoj Bajpayee narrated docuseries ‘Secrets of the Kohinoor’ (Discovery+).

10.Dharma Productions/ Dharmatic Entertainment:
Karan Johar’s production house gave a variety of content this year including Madhuri Dixit starrer ‘The Fame Game’ (Netflix), 7th season of Johar’s very own popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ (Disney+ Hotstar), second season of reality show ‘Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’ (Netflix) and direct-to-OTT releases ’Gehraiyaan’ (Prime Video) and ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ (Disney+ Hotstar).

9.Dice Media:
The premium digital video division of Pocket Aces, Dice Media has given a gem in the feel good drama ‘Ghar Wapsi’ (Disney+ Hotstar) alongside other teen dramas like ‘Crushed’ S2 (Amazon MiniTV) and ‘Please Find Attached’ S3 (Amazon MiniTV).

8.Tipping Point:
Viacom18 Studios’ digital branch has given the second season of two hit Netflix series this year. First is Imtiaz Ali’s crime drama ‘She’ and the second is Ajit Andhare’s ‘Jamtara’.

7.Clean Slate Filmz:
Founded by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma, this production house has given some very popular contents earlier. And it has continued the streak this year with family thriller drama ‘Mai: A Mother’s Rage’ (Netflix) and psychological drama film ‘Qala’ (Netflix).

6.Red Chillies Entertainment:
Founded by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan, Red Chillies Entertainment is a well known production house in the industry and it has some good content in the OTT space too. This year they brought two films: Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Darlings’ (Netflix) which she co-produced and romantic thriller drama ‘Love Hostel’ (Zee5).

5.RSVP Movies:
Ronnie Screwvala’s production house began its production journey itself with a digital film and this year they produced romantic comedy drama ‘Mismatched S2’ (Netflix), thriller drama ‘A Thursday’ (Disney+ Hotstar) and Anjali Menon’s ‘Wonder Woman’ (SonyLIV).

4.Pushkar-Gayathri:
This creator duo has given one of 2022’s best web series in ‘Suzhal: The Vortex’ (Prime Video), a crime thriller drama released in multiple languages. They have also produced mystery crime thriller drama ‘Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie’ (Prime Video).

3.Abundantia Entertainment:
Vikram Malhotra’s production house has given some pretty good content this year with new season of Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’ (Prime Video), Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah’s ‘Jalsa’ (Prime Video) and Juhi Chawla’s OTT debut series ‘Hush Hush’ (Prime Video).

Now they got out a lot of content in 2022 and while some were good, others not that much.
