After the National Award winning film, Uttarayan, its actor and director, Sharad Kelkar and Bipin Nadkarni respectively, have joined forces again — this time in the latter’s much-awaited movie, Darbaan. The movie was supposed to have a theatrical release on 3rd April 2020. But owing to the Covid-19 shutdown, it has now moved to the OTT space. ZEE5 has moved quickly to grab the streaming rights of the interesting film. Darbaan premieres on ZEE5 on 4th December.
Darbaan will be Bipin Nadkarni’s Hindi film debut. The erstwhile advertising professional has worked for years with ace director Ram Madhvani, himself a former ad-man. Bipin Nadkarni’s movies are known for taking up moving subjects, filmed with a sensitive touch.
Darbaan is based on one of Rabindranath Tagore’s popular stories. It is centred on the relationship between a young, privileged man and the caretaker person who cared for him in his childhood until his youth. The young man is now a father, and wants his old caretaker to care for his kid too. The story speaks of unconditional love, forgiveness and redemption.
Darbaan boasts a sparkling star cast, comprising hunky actor Sharad Kelkar, along with Sharib Hashmi, Rasika Dugal and Flora Saini. Sharad Kelkar is a star much in demand after his recent successful outings in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Laxmii and others. Sharib Hashmi is basking in the success of his superhit web series, SonyLIV’s Scam 1992. Both actors have earlier worked together in the hit Amazon Prime Video show, The Family Man.
