Pawan Kalyan’s period action drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu hit theatres on July 24, 2025, but the box office response was underwhelming. The film was expected to head to OTT quickly to make up for lost ground, with an initial streaming plan for August 15. Now, reports suggest that Amazon Prime Video might push it back to August 21 or even August 28. The reason is clear: they want Rajinikanth’s Coolie, releasing in theatres on August 14, to have the spotlight all to itself before dropping another big title.
The problem for Hari Hara Veera Mallu is that the theatrical failure has already killed most of the hype. Delaying the OTT release for Coolie might make sense on paper, but for viewers, the excitement isn’t exactly high anymore. People who didn’t bother watching it in theatres aren’t likely to count the days for it online, especially with Coolie grabbing attention and other big releases like War 2 arriving.
The film itself tells the story of Veera Mallu, a Robin Hood-like figure who is tasked with stealing the legendary Koh-i-Noor diamond from Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Pawan Kalyan plays the lead, with Bobby Deol as the antagonist. It has the scale, action, and star power, but the lukewarm reception suggests the execution didn’t match the ambition.
At this point, Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s best shot at relevance is to arrive on OTT sooner rather than later. Waiting too long might mean it disappears from public memory altogether.
