The new trailer of Warner Bros film ‘Black Adam‘ has just been released and the movie promises not much more than another anti-hero trying to be more of a hero than a villain.
The Dwayne Johnson starrer is one of the big ventures that Warner Bros is putting its money on in 2022, having recently pushed a lot of its big projects like ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ to 2023.
By his own admission, Black Adam is not a peaceful man. Asleep for 5000 years, he has scores to settle and doesn’t care about the consequences. This brings him face to face with the Justice Society which wants him to surrender before he does any more damage. Besides the antihero, the second trailer also features the likes of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher(Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and fan favorite Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) with Viola Davis reprising her role as Amanda Waller from the Suicide Squad series.
The trailer does show us something that was not shown in the previous teasers and first trailer – a demonic foe, possibly even stronger than Black Adam himself. The trailer is nothing extraordinary but just what is expected when you go to watch a Dwayne Johnson film: Action, a not-so-surprising plot, and yes, him saving the day. And people like him for it. That exactly is what Warner Bros is betting on to get a small respite from all that’s been happening the past month.
The VFX and production value are top notch and the cast especially Pierce Brosnan does warrant promise. The BGM complements the happenings in the trailer. Hope it won’t be one of those films where you get good visual effects and a paper-thick plot but nothing more.
In the trailer, Doctor Fate tells Black Adam that he may be the destroyer of this world or its savior. Wonder if it’s something the executives told Dwayne, with them putting their hopes on him to give DCU its much-needed big theatrical hit.
