Black Mirror Season 7: Every Episode Explained & Cast Revealed

We are nearly a week away from the release of Black Mirror Season 7 on Netflix (release date: April 10). This popular Charlie Brooker anthology series has delivered one special and 27 episodes across its six previous seasons. The growing prominence of OTT platforms has certainly helped anthology-based shows find a substantial audience, allowing Black Mirror to continue captivating viewers since 2016.

The latest trailer for Black Mirror Season 7 reveals episode titles, themes, and cast details while promising the show’s trademark thought-provoking storytelling. Let’s take a look!

Common People (Season 7, Episode 1)

Episode 1 revolves around Amanda (Rashida Jones) and Mike (Chris O’Dowd). The newest trailer shows Amanda passing out in class due to a serious medical emergency, forcing Mike to partner with a company that offers groundbreaking technology to keep her alive. But everything comes at a price. Soon, the technology begins running ads through Amanda.

This unsettling scenario essentially turns Amanda into an app, allowing Mike to adjust her settings for his own convenience, influencing her pleasure and calmness levels. Episode 1 appears to explore themes of power, control, and toxic masculinity.

Bête Noire (Season 7, Episode 2)

Maria, a successful executive in the chocolate industry, encounters a former schoolmate, Verity, during a product-tasting session. While their meeting initially suggests a potential reconnection, Maria senses something unsettling about Verity— a detail that seems to go unnoticed by everyone else.

Things escalate when Maria finds herself isolated, as her colleagues refuse to support her and begin questioning her sanity.

The cast of this episode includes Siena Kelly (Maria), Rosy McEwen (Verity), Tracee Ellis Ross (Gaynor), Ben Bailey Smith (Gabe), Amber Grapp (Yudy), Ravi Aujla (Mr. Ditta), Elena Sanz (Camille), and Hanna Griffiths (Luisa).

Hotel Reverie (Season 7, Episode 3)

Episode 3 of Black Mirror Season 7 follows popular Hollywood actress Brandy Friday (Issa Rae), who finds herself trapped in a highly realistic, technologically advanced recreation of an old-fashioned black-and-white romance film. To escape, she must play along with the scripted narrative alongside another character, Dorothy (Emma Corrin).

The trailer confirms that Kimmy (Awkwafina) is promoting Redream, an AI-driven system capable of generating films instantly. This technology appears to be using Brandy’s dreams as source material, explaining the shared, distressing scenes between Brandy and Dorothy within a digital hotel environment.

While Dorothy is reluctant to let Brandy go, Kimmy insists that the characters are merely AI constructs in a fictional narrative, not real people.

Plaything (Season 7, Episode 4)

This episode follows Cameron, an eccentric loner who develops an intense obsession with a mysterious 1990s video game—one that also connects him to a chilling police investigation.

The new trailer teases the return of Colin Ritman from Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. The footage shows Ritman collaborating with a young Cameron on a game development project, which appears to fuel Cameron’s aggressive behaviour. The clip hints at violent acts, including the possibility that Cameron commits murder, mirroring the in-game deaths of the “Thronglets” characters.

The cast of Episode 4 includes Peter Capaldi (Old Cameron Walker), Lewis Gribben (Young Cameron Walker), James Nelson Joyce (DCI Kano), Michele Austin (Jen), Will Poulter (Colin Ritman), and Asim Choudhury (Mohan Thakur).

Eulogy (Season 7, Episode 5)

This episode centers on Phillip, who uses an advanced technology to revisit photographic memories. While initially immersing himself in these memories as tangible experiences, Phillip’s demeanor shifts, and he begins displaying hostility toward the Guide—the young woman assisting him in the process.

Phillip views many of his past memories through a lens of trauma and grief. Eventually, he demands that the Guide help him escape. Episode 5 serves as a stark reminder that running from our past is not a solution—but dwelling on it too much can also be deeply damaging.

USS Callister: Into Infinity (Season 7, Episode 6)

Black Mirror Season 7 will conclude with a bang in Episode 6. After the death of Robert Daly, Nanette Cole takes command of the USS Callister. However, she soon discovers that survival is nearly impossible, as her crew is hunted by over 30 million users.

The trailer teases explosive visuals, colourful intergalactic battles, and a journey across planets. While it retains the Star Trek aesthetic, the tone appears to be more intense and brutal.

The finale stars Cristin Milioti (Nanette Cole), Jimmi Simpson (Walton), Billy Magnussen (Karl, aka Valdack), Milanka Brooks (Elena Tulaska), Osy Ikhile (Nate Packer), and Paul G. Raymond (Kabir Dudani).

Here’s the new trailer for Black Mirror Season 7!
