Marvel dropped the teaser of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at SDCC 2022. Helmer Ryan Coogler wanted to see how Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa would grow as the king and protector of Wakanda in future MCU movies. However, the actor’s unfortunate demise in 2020 forced the makers to alter the sequel’s script. As a result, Letitia Wright‘s Shuri was given a much larger role than what she originally had in the second part.
Well, we all got to hand it to Marvel! The makers have done an exceptional job in bestowing a visually vibrant and emotionally resonant teaser of Wakanda Forever. Additionally, the teaser also honours Boseman’s legacy in the best possible way.
We see Shuri and Queen Ramonda mourning for their fallen king in the opening moments of the teaser. There were rumours about Shuri taking the mantle of Black Panther in the sequel. The teaser teased a person in the Black Panther suit. But we don’t know who that was. Marvel is yet to make an announcement about it. Although, Shuri is known to take the mantle in the absence of T’Challa in the comics.
The teaser also showed Tenoch Huerta as Namor and Dominique Thorne as Riki Williams aka Ironheart. Namor will be the primary antagonist here. On the other hand, the latter creates a suit of armour that rivals Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit.
Coogler expressed his feelings about working without Chadwick Boseman in the sequel at the teaser launch, “Chad is no longer with us physically, but his spirit, his passion, his genius, his pride, his culture, and the impact that he made on this industry will be felt forever. We put our love for Chadwick into this film.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit the theatres on November 11, 2022. Stay tuned for more updates.
