The much anticipated MCU film, ‘Black Widow‘ released around the world earlier this month (in theatres mostly) and it has managed to garner profits during these past few weeks. While the critical response has been mixed so far, the profits reported by Disney has shown that this movie is a financial success, at least as much as it can be during these trying times. Despite the mixed reviews, however, many are still sad to let Scarlett Johansson go, as her performance as one of the “original Avengers” will forever be engraved in MCU history. However, fret not, for we have not seen the last of Black Widow just yet – she will be making an appearance in the upcoming MCU animated anthology series, ‘What If…?’
While Scarlett won’t be voicing the animated version of the ex-Russian spy/ assassin, her character will still be canon within the MCU(as much as this show allows it to be), so that’s a plus. We are sad that we will not get any more live-action Scarlett Johansson version of Black Widow (at least not anytime soon), but we are glad to see that there is more to this character, and hopefully will open up a way for Scarlett to return to the role, should she which it.
Marvel’s ‘What If…?’ animated web series will premiere Disney+ Hotstar on August 11th 2021. The entire series will consist of 10 episodes, making it the biggest MCU series so far (based on the number of episodes), with episodes releasing weekly till October 13th.
