Shakespeare will always be relevant in literature and cinema. The tall figure still captivates the audience through his stories and the insane success of Anyone But You just solidifies this notion. “Anyone but You,” a romantic comedy directed by Will Gluck, takes inspiration from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” and adds a contemporary twist. The story follows Bea and Ben, who meet by chance and hit it off, only for things to go awry when they misunderstand each other.
Bea, played by Sydney Sweeney, and Ben, played by Glen Powell, meet at a coffee shop. Despite a rough start, they feel a connection. But when Bea overhears Ben saying something hurtful, they drift apart for six months.
Their paths cross again at a wedding in Sydney, where both their siblings are getting married. As they navigate awkward encounters and interference from friends and exes, Bea and Ben confront their feelings and misunderstandings.
“Anyone but You” follows a very typical romance trope but the presentation of the story is really well done. Perhaps that is the reason behind millions and millions of dollars at the box office. But, the movie is now getting ready for a release on Netflix. And, it will be released on the platform starting from the 19th of April.
