Bloody Daddy starring Shahid Kapoor is arriving at JioCinema tomorrow. The movie is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar who earned fame through the 2017 blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai.
The movie is a remake of the French film Sleepless Night which came out in 2011.
If you see the overall trend of movies that get released on OTT then you would find something interesting. Indian films that are considered not worthy of attracting audiences to the big screens often end up at the OTT. This trend started in late 2021 when cinema halls were more or less opening across the country. People were addicted to OTT and hence makers saw it as an opportunity.
Later, OTT emerged as a garbage bin for movies like Cuttputlli, Radhe, and more. Some very good films like Sardar Udham and Darlings also got released on OTT because they were thought to be incapable of attracting the masses on the big screens.
But action films have always been a big screen spectacle. Hollywood often makes digital movies on scales as large as The Gray Man and Red Notice.
But in India, OTT meant films that lacked mass appeal.
Bloody Daddy on JioCinema might change that perspective. Needless to say, Bloody Daddy may lack soul and decency but the action seems to be promising.
If and only if Ali Abbas Zafar has done a good job in it, the Indian film industry may change the way they perceive OTT.
