Fans of the superhero movie genre must be eagerly waiting for the release of the upcoming DCEU film ‘Blue Beetle’ starring ‘Cobra Kai’ actor Xolo Maridueña in the lead role. Initially slated for an HBO Max OTT release, the superhero movie is now all set for a theatrical release including India next week on 18th August.
‘Blue Beetle’ is a superhero origin story of the titular protagonist Blue Beetle aka Jaime Reyes (played by Xolo Maridueña). The film’s plotline ostensibly revolves around a Mexican teenager Jaime Reyes, who accidentally finds an alien scarab called Blue Beetle, which gives the boy a superpowered exosuit, thereby granting him superspeed and superstrength amongst other incredible abilities.
And in case you are wondering how ‘Blue Beetle’ will turn out to be, then you will now have a rough idea as the film’s first reactions / reviews have started pouring in. Although these are not the official and detailed reviews from critics.
So, the general feedback so far about ‘Blue Beetle’ reveals that the film features a nice lead performance by ‘Cobra Kai’ actor Xolo Maridueña. As per a film enthusiast, the movie is fun and extremely funny. Another one has said that it is the best film to come out of the DCU since ‘Wonder Woman’.
One reviewer has opined that ‘Blue Beetle’ is a massive win for DC… and a fresh and endearing spin on the origin story. Another reviewer has said that the film stands out from previous DC entries & it’s mostly due to the Latin flavour. One feedback has even stated that ‘Blue Beetle’ is their favourite post-Nolan DC film (and that’s a big thing to say) and it’s an action-packed and highly entertaining story about family.
So, as you can see, ‘Blue Beetle’ has so far received mostly positive feedback from fans and film enthusiasts and does not sound like another miss for DC. In fact, it seems to be a big hit already. But this feedback cannot probably be taken as fool-proof because the detailed critics’ reviews and audience verdict are yet to be revealed.
It will also be interesting to see how well ‘Blue Beetle’ is received at the box-office even if it gets rave reviews after its theatrical release. Because the previous DC release ‘The Flash’ was admired by audiences and critics but failed to set the box-office on fire. Stay tuned to Binged until then.
#BlueBeetle is my favorite post-Nolan DC film.
It’s an action packed, highly entertaining superhero story about family…& there’s nothing more important than family.
The film is unique in that it lovingly & unabashedly shares the Reyes family’s Mexican culture. @bluebeetle 🧵 pic.twitter.com/o6Q9kUrbeC

Happy to report @angelmanuelsoto's #BlueBeetle was so much better than I expected. He's added his own flavor to the superhero genre by having the film focus on a tight-knit family and Latino culture. It’s fun, extremely funny, and he got away with a few jokes that floored me. pic.twitter.com/TA6I5a9sGl
